Honoring Our Heroes on Veterans Day 2025
Today, on Veterans Day 2025, we proudly pause to honor the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform. This day is not just a holiday—it’s a heartfelt reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of those who protect our freedoms.
A Morning of Honor in Southlake
Our very own Vice Commander, Rick Groesch, was the guest speaker at the Veterans Day Ceremony on the steps of Southlake Town Hall at 9 AM. The event brought together community members, local leaders, and many members of Texas Legion Post 14, who came out to show their support and appreciation.
Rick delivered an inspiring message reflecting on the meaning of service and the importance of never forgetting those who have worn our nation’s uniform. His words reminded everyone present that freedom comes at a cost—and gratitude must be shown not only today, but every day.
Later in the day, Rick Groesch was also a guest speaker at Carroll High School in Southlake as part of their Veterans Day celebration, continuing Post 14’s commitment to educating and inspiring the next generation about the value of service and sacrifice.
Why Veterans Day Matters
Veterans Day traces its origins to Armistice Day, which marked the end of World War I on November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour. In 1954, it was renamed Veterans Day to honor all U.S. military veterans—past, present, and future.
It’s a day to remember that veterans are more than their time in service. They are our neighbors, mentors, teachers, and community leaders. Their sense of duty continues long after their uniforms are retired.
How We Can Continue to Show Our Appreciation
At Post 14, we believe gratitude is best expressed through action. Here are a few simple but meaningful ways to honor our veterans:
